It was towards this building, then known as the Presidential Palace, that the first tanks rushed to on the morning of 30th April 1975. The dramatic images of these tanks, crashing through the gates of the Presidential Palace, was to become one of the most famous representations of the end of a war, and the reunification of Vietnam.
