International
Choir of HCMC News:
From Allyson Keane, here's an
update: "Following on from the success of the recent “Annie Get Your Gun”
performances, the International Choir of
HCMC is
now planning something completely different for 2009. The choir starts back at
rehearsal on Monday 5 January, and will be looking for new members for soprano,
alto, tenor and bass positions. Men are in short supply, so any male
singers are particularly welcome! The choir may be singing in a Puccini concert with the HBSO and
a guest conductor in late February at the opera
house, and a concert featuring the music of Haydn in June is also planned, which may be of interest to anyone that
particularly likes singing classical music!
Auditions are required for brand new members, a
simple process to put you in the right part (S,A,T or B) that can be done at
rehearsal at the British International School, 43-45 Tu Xuong St,
District 3 (basement canteen area!) starting 7.30 pm Monday 5 Jan, 2009.
Just turn up about 7.00pm on the night if you need an
audition…" Contact Brian Riedlinger, Choir Director, at 0909283670 for

Saigon Players
News:
I can't easily summarize what the
irrepressible and intrepid Saigon
Players will be up to next, so I'm repeating all (almost all)
the bumpf (no disrespect intended!) I've received,
herewith:
(Quote) "As
most of you may already know, Ciarna and I are re-vamping the various
sketches from the past 3 'Missed-ed SaiGon' shows – as well as adding a few new
bits.
After considering the time restraints of most people, it
seems that trying to put a show on over the holiday season is like banging
your head against the wall. So we will change. As you know – change is
inevitable (except from vending machines), so we have decided to target
a
performance during the weekend of Feb 20/09 and the following weekend, end
of Feb/March. One of those weekends will be in Mui Ne
at "Joe's - The Arts Cafe" and one will be in
HCMC. Anyone who is interested and willing to commit should know
that rehearsals will be held between Wed. Feb 4th to Wed. Feb
18th. Email me if interested at
auntieem_nam01@yahoo.ca
